My thoughts:It’s no secret that I am a huge Lucinda Riley fan. I’ve read almost all her books to date, and those that I haven’t I plan to soon. I always find myself completely engaged in her stories, falling in love with her characters and swept up in their lives and this one was no different.

The Butterfly Room – by Lucinda Riley – independent book The Butterfly Room – by Lucinda Riley – independent book

Then a face appears from the past – Freddie, her first love, who abandoned her and left her heartbroken fifty years ago. Already struggling to cope with her son’s inept business dealings, and the sudden reappearance of her younger son after ten years in Australia, Posy is reluctant to trust in Freddie’s renewed affection. And, unbeknown to Posy, Freddie has a devastating secret to reveal . . . This is a sprawling family drama beginning with Posy in 1940's and then herself and her family 60 years later. I loved the build up of the story and meeting everyone - this author is such a great story teller. Her sons are at odds about their mother selling their childhood home and Posey is again in the middle. They're dead! They're dead! They're dead! How could he have lied to me?' I shouted in between sobs. I stayed in the woods a very long time, until I heard Daisy calling for me. I only wished I could ask Daddy why he'd killed them when they were so beautiful, and then hung them up like trophies so he could look up and see their deadness on the walls. This book is an enjoyable, cozy read with characters that you will love as much as the book’s story line.

Gardening and Posy’s work at Kew are central threads of the story. Are you a keen gardener yourself or is there another reason why you decided to include these themes? Hi, I am an avid reader and have been all my life. I put it down to being an only child and having a teacher for a mum. The idea of this blog is to share my passion for reading and review new and upcoming books as well as those that may have been out for several years.

It has all the ingredients I expect of a family saga: a big old crumbling family home, mystery, sibling rivalry, romance, secrets, lies . . . But the biggest secret? I never could have guessed what it would be, and it left me stunned.

A story set the beautiful Suffolk countryside in England, Posy Montague approaching her seventieth birthday and still living in the family home of Admiral House where history and secrets abound. When a face appears from her past, Posy is reluctant to trust again. A story about family and romance set between the years 1940s and 2006. I'm Kristin. I always have a book with me wherever I go! I am married and have two chocolate labs - Maddie and Chloe. In addition to reading, I also enjoy yoga and walking - I am a big audio fan and love listening to audio books while out walking! In 1940 we meet Posy, growing up in Admiral House with her parents. She has a close bond with her father until he is sent to war.
